Fluffy brows are a beauty trend that I absolutely adore. How can I get that full look for my eyebrows? The eyebrow lamination. I’ve discussed this process on Instagram a lot, but I received so many questions about it that I decided to write a blog post about everything I wanted you to know about my favorite beauty treatment.

The beauty industry is awash with eyebrow lamination or perms. It’s probably one of the most popular treatments at salons in recent years, right behind a lashlift. Lamination is a less invasive and painful alternative to microblading. It gives the appearance of fuller eyebrows at a lower cost.

What You Should Know About Brow Lamination

Let’s get started! This blog post will tell you everything about brow lamination, including the price, the downtime, how to care for it, and who is best to do it.

What is Brow Lamination?

A chemical process lifts the brow hairs, giving them a fuller appearance. It’s like a perm, but only for the little eyebrow hairs. The hair is not curled, but it’s managed and given more flexibility to give you more volume and texture in your eyebrows.

Non-Invasive

The process of brow lamination does not involve needles and is therefore non-invasive.

Long-lasting

The results of brow lamination, with proper care, can last 6-8 weeks.

Natural Look

Lamination is a simple process that takes your existing hair and gives it volume and structure, making it appear fuller. It also covers any gaps left by the absence of hair growth. The result is natural-looking, and easy to maintain.

Brow Lamination Process

The most common questions I receive when it comes to brow lamination are those regarding the eyebrow perm. The process of brow laminate is fairly standard. While brow specialists may use different prep techniques depending on the hair type, it’s pretty common across the board. Here is the complete process I follow when getting my brows laminated.

Step 1: Threading

There’s nothing more satisfying than having a brow specialist work their magic to shape and trim my eyebrows. I let my hair grow for a few weeks before my appointment so that they can thread or tweeze the baby hairs for the perfect eyebrow shape.

Step 2: Lifting cream

The brows are brushed with a lifting cream to make them more flexible and moveable. The plastic wrap will hold the brows in place for a few moments.

Step 3: Neutralizer

The brows are held in their new shape by applying this chemical solution. It will sit on your eyebrows for a couple of minutes.

Step 4: Nourishing Oil

The lamination treatment can be a bit harsh on your eyebrows, so the treatment ends with nourishing oils to restore moisture and shine to your newly-shaped brows.

Step 5: Tinting

Although it is not part of the standard brow lamination procedure, I enjoy getting my eyebrows tinted afterward. There are a few lighter/gray hairs on my brows which make it appear as if I over-plucked. By tinting my eyebrows, the hair looks more uniform. Tinting is not a part of the brow lamination procedure, but I add it because I like the results.

Brow Lamination Price

The cost of brow lamination varies depending on whether you combine services such as threading with lamination and tinting. A standalone brow shaping and lamination session can cost less than a complete service package.

Aftercare for Brow Lamination

Aftercare is crucial to maintaining the best possible results after your brow lamination. These guidelines are essential:

  • Avoid water and excessive sweating: Do not shower, wash your face, or engage in any activities that can cause excessive sweating for at least 24 hours after the procedure. This will allow the chemicals to be properly set.
  • Do not rub the area around the eyebrows for at least 24 hours. This will prevent the setting process from being disturbed.
  • No Makeup for the Brows. While applying makeup to the face is acceptable, do not apply products directly to your brows in the first 24 to 48 hours. This will minimize the disruption.
  • Brush your Brows Regularly. After 24 hours resume normal routine. To maintain the laminated appearance, brush your eyebrows regularly with a clean spoolie. Keep them groomed to maintain their shape.
  • Tinting considerations: If you choose to tint your car along with lamination, the color will appear darker during the first 24 hours. If the intensity is too intense, avoid public appearances for 24 hours.
