When you are getting eyelash extensions, it’s important to do a bit of research into the right type of adhesive and components for any lash installation. Using the wrong adhesive may lead to your eyelashes becoming weaker than anticipated early on. Some of the issues that come with using the wrong adhesive could be allergic reactions, eye infections, and more. Here is some basic information that you should know about eyelash extension adhesives that can help you make the right choice:
Cyanoacrylate
The base chemical in any type of lash extension adhesive is Cyanoacrylate. This is a chemical that was discovered first in the year 1951, completely by accident. The adhesive does not dry when it is exposed to distilled water or moisture. This is what gives lash extensions their bond over weeks at a time.
Using Medical Grade
There are no formal regulations for eyelash extension adhesive. Medical-grade glue does not have the stringent manufacturing processes that you would find for many other medical-grade products. The CA products that are produced in medical grade are usually designed to be applied to the skin and they are much weaker than what you would find in most eyelash extensions. Choosing an eyelash extension adhesive that is labeled as medical grade, could have you using an inferior product for eyelash extensions.
Sensitive Skin Adhesive
If you have clients that typically have skin allergies or you have had a bad reaction to lash extensions in the past, choosing a sensitive adhesive that has glue made with lower fumes and base chemicals will improve your results. Sensitive adhesives will still use CA as the base chemical but they can prevent chemical burns and irritations by reducing the level of fumes.
